Behavior-driven development (BDD), and its older cousin test-driven development, are becoming more widely adopted. BDD is shown to be particularly useful when the domain or desired solution is highly complex.

BDD uses simple English statements in a formal prescribed way that allows all team members on the development team as well as non-technical business team members, to have a shared language for what is being developed. This simple domain-specific scripting language turns commonly understood language statements into executable tests – with explicit criteria for the conditions required for the test to pass. The practice of BDD also assumes the use of specialized software tools to support the development process.

Our presenter, Abid Quereshi, is a developer and a Scrum Alliance Certified Enterprise Coach with extensive expertise in helping companies successfully implement new development methods.

Participants will gain an understanding of the benefits of this method, as well describe how BDD affects the role of a testing professional and the management of quality.
