There are now over 25 competing data security and privacy standards that potentially have to be met.

If your company’s database contains PHI or PPI, or you work in an industry that is covered by data security or privacy standards or regulations, you will want to hear about the changes taking place and what you can do to support your company in tackling these dynamic challenges.

Here is a partial list of privacy and security standards.  Do any apply to you today?

  • Cloud Security Alliance

  • CMS (Center for Medicare) Information Security

  • COBIT 4.1 and 5 (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies)

  • HIPPA/HITECH

  • IRS

  • ISO 2700

  • NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology)

  • PCI (Payment Card Industry) Data Security Standard

  • Texas Health and Safety Code

  • Massachusetts… and many other states have significant legislation in these areas

Being out of compliance is NOT an option. This presentation offers an overview of how the security and privacy landscape is evolving and how QA and testing professionals can play a vital role in ensuring their organization is compliant, to help you address questions like:  How do these standards affect your testing strategy?  How do you tackle these concerns in Agile?

Even those who are not involved directly in data security and privacy compliance validation will benefit from gaining a better understanding of how the changing landscape of data security will impact the concerns of your organization and the opportunities for growth within your career.
